Bryants celebrate 65th anniversary

— Roy T. and Clara Bell (Blunt) Bryant will be celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary on March 13, 2012. The couple was married on March 1, 1947 by Rev. Hubert Lester.

Roy and Clara are native Oklahomans. Roy was born in Dudley and came to Chickasha in 1940. He served in the U.S. Navy in 1945-46 on board the USS Philadelphia. Clara was born in Chickasha and is a graduate of Lincoln High School.

In 1972, they purchased Roy's Bar-B-Que and in 1985 was recognized as one of the best barbecue eating establishments along the state's byways. Roy's cooking career began in the Navy in 1945. He was then employed in Chickasha by Chicken in the Rough.

The couple has eight children, 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Roy is the son of Mrs. Minnie Bryant of Chickasha and the late Zach Bryant.  Clara is the daughter of Mrs. Lillie Bell Blunt of Chickasha and the late Clarence Blunt.

The couple attends Mount Olive Baptist Church where Roy serves as a deacon.
