100th Birthday for Myrtle Bible
Glenhaven Retirement Village in Chickasha will host a come-and-go 100th birthday party for resident and former Cyril school teacher Myrtle Bible on Monday, Nov. 23 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Bible is a member of Cyril Church of Christ which will be assisting with the birthday celebration.
Operation
Christmas Child
First Christian Church, located at 6th and Kansas Ave., will be the drop-off point for Christmas shoebox gifts going to Operation Christmas Child, a division of Samaritan's Purse. Gifts will be packed in cartons for delivery to Oklahoma City and on to international destinations.
Volunteers need help receive donated goods and pack them in cartons are needed during the morning hours of Nov. 16 - 22. Anyone wishing to help in this project may contact the church at 224-6372 or Luellen Wittenbach at 224-6088. The hours at 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 22.
Angel Project
Seventeen years ago, a Southwest Youth and Family Services staff member had a dream to provide Christmas gifts for the children and youth who would be in the shelter for Christmas.
SWYFS is looking for individuals or groups to partner with them this holiday season so the children of are community are not forgotten but reminded how special they are.
To adopt an "Angel," call 405-222-5437 or send your contribution to us and a committed staff member will shop for you. Mail your contribution your contribution to Angel Project, Southwest Youth and Family Services, P.O. Box 829, Chickasha, OK 73023.
Gifts for Yanks
The American Legion Auxilliary is conducting their annual donation drive, Gifts for Yanks, to support Oklahoma veterans in seven retirement homes in Oklahoma, Monies are raised and given to the homes for veterans needs from money to call loved ones to holiday parties.
Donations may be mailed to Gifts for Yanks, c/o Sally Curry, P.O. Box 225, Chickasha, Ok 73023 or given to Helen at Todd’s Muffler Shop, 901 S. 3rd, (corner of 3rd & Texas) in Chickasha.
Food Drive
Healthback of Chickasha will be accepting non-perishable food items for two local charities, the Salvation Army and Cornerstone Church of Chickasha.
Donations will be accepted at Healthback's office located at 420 S. 22nd in Chickasha. Food will be collected now through Dec. 16th.

Something Worthwhile set for Dec.1
Something Worthwhile, an entertaining evening event for all ladies in the area, will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Dec. 1 in the Life Center of Epworth United Methodist Church, Chickasha.
Following a home-cooked meal, Aiya Attaway, director of music ministries at Epworth UM Church, Chickasha, will present a beautiful musical program.
Guests are asked to bring a wrapped Christmas ornament to exchange.
Reservations are required and seating is limited. All reservations are made with Bobi at 320-0240. Reservations will be accepted until all tickets are sold or until the deadline of 3 p.m. on Fri., Nov. 27. The meal cost is $4, which can be paid at the door.
Childcare is available when requested with one’s reservation. Each guest is asked to please honor her reservation, or if unable to attend, share it with a friend.

Copies of the ‘Let’s Make Something Worthwhile’ cookbook, featuring recipes from the 2008-09 Something Worthwhile women’s events, will be available for purchase at $5. Proceeds from the cookbook will benefit the Resurrection House and Cornerstone Church.
