“James brings with him not only teaching experience, but also dedication to young people that is so critical to his position,” Tracy Goyne, director of CV Tech Student Services, said. “His varied background and experiences will make him a valuable resource to our students and school district on several different levels, and we are very excited about that.”
Byrd is a member of the Southern Baptist Church in Alex, serves on the Grady County Fire Service and is School Board Clerk at Middleberg Public School. He and his wife, Amy, reside in Alex.
They have two sons, Baylan, 4; and Rocky, 10 weeks.

“Chad comes to us with a remarkable skill set and a history of successfully assisting and developing young people,” Goyne said.
