Dibble Senior Citizens News

Greetings to the Seniors of the Dibble Community!

Last week was eventful as we continue our 3 day a week Free Food Pantry.  Each day has increased in numbers as more folks become aware of the new schedule.  If you are low income, either family or senior, and could use a supplement to your weekly food budget please feel free to come in M-W-F from 8:00 to 11:00.

Our sick list is not so good this week as Roberta Calhoun has had back surgery and is now recovering at home.  Don McGaha is recovering as well.  I do wish I could go a whole month with not having to report medical malfunctions from our folks.  Get well to all!

I am so pleased to announce that one of the major TV networks has finally come up with a reality show that truly reflects the day to day lives of Dibble Seniors.  Hats off to Betty White and the folks on “Off Their Rocker” for truly bringings Dibble Senior reality to TV.  They ain’t right!!

My Presidential campaign gets stronger each week as the two main folks running for the office keep running their mouths!  I never thought I would miss Richard Nixon!!The problem is everything they say may directly effect most seniors!  One of them says that things could not be worse and we need to take care of the folks at the top and good times will miraculously “trickle down” to the other folks on the bottom of the totem pole.  Seems to me we tried that for 8 years and we got trickled on all right.  It was green but it wasn’t Mountain Dew!!  All that seemed to trickle down was derivative this and toxic asset that also with the banksters dancing the “bail out boogie” not to mention a couple of 10 year wars!!  The other guy says we need to take care of the folks at the bottom of the totem pole and things will “perculate up”.  It seems to be perculating up but at this rate it may take 4 years to make a pot of coffee!!  Seniors are well aware of the instant gratification society that we live in.  Rome was not built in a day, but come on!!  I don’t hear much “yes we did” replacing “yes we can” of late!  However, things are looking up for Dibble seniors as good things seem to be coming our way!  Not only do we now have a new Dollar Store, we are making lots and lots of badly needed hay in the country and happy days are here again.  Waffle House has returned to the “all you can eat” menu on Main St in Norman.  It makes you want to throw darts at Jared of Subway fame every time you go to Waffle House!!  How much better could it get!  At the end of the day most seniors look to history and maybe through that they try to contemplate the direction (and vote) for our future!  With that said I will pass along something I recently captured off of Free Speech TV that seems to hit the nail on the head.  It is the State of the Union Address to the Congress by President Grover Cleveland in 1888.  It is as follows:

“We discover that the fortunes realized by our manufacturers are no longer solely the reward of sturdy industry and enlightened foresight, but they are largely built upon undue extractions from the masses of our people.  The gulf between employers and the employed is constantly widening and classes are rapidly forming, comprising of the very rich and powerful while in another are found the toiling poor.  As we view the achievement of aggregated capital, we discover the existence of trusts, combinations and monopolies while the citizen is struggling far in the rear or is trampled to death beneath an iron heel.  Corporations which should be the carefully restrained creatures of the law and the servants of the people, are fast becoming the people’s masters!”--

My cousin Becky has got her a new boyfriend of late.  He was overheard asking her how she came to be such a good kisser?  She told him it was syphoning all that gas from her Dad’s truck while in high school.  ...Ahh...She ain’t right!!

All for now...
