At long last! Relief from the sky!! Finally a much needed rain for central Oklahoma!
Remember we have much going on in the coming months to come as we close in on holidays, senior events, national election and year's end. Stay Tuned!!
Last week I reported A.S.C.O.G. would be at our Center on Monday 8/20/12. Turns out it was Monday 8/27; so write that off as a senior moment! Seems I do make mistakes. The last one was in about 1980 or so. Also remember State Representative Lisa J. Billy will be at our Center for a visit on Friday September 21st at 10:00 am. Be there or be square!
Remember our sick and injured and the family of Don McGaha as they deal with illness. Also, Rick Mosley, one of our seniors who just endured 2 knee replacements and as recently as last Monday, a hip replacement, was awakened by his roof burning and falling in on him as he barely could get to his walker and get out alive! He made it although his house is history. Temporary accommodations have been made and he is now in a travel trailer in his yard. Get well Rick!! He is a tough old bird and he will be OK.
We are still in need of a CDL drivers for our on going food recovery program as well as someone for a relief driver for Spencers in Blanchard to get donated items. Please call 222-4546 or 344-6789 if interested.
The latest editions of the Oklahoma Observer reports that 1 in 6 Oklahomans are now getting food stamps and that since 2008, 200,000 additional people have been added. All this while reportedly some bankster on Wall Street, who was the front man to get rid of the New Deal "Glass Stegal Act", that was repealed in 1999. Thus letting the banksters run amuke and do their own thing which in turn, in the period of 8 years, almost caused another Great Depression and all the bail outs and unemployment, etc. of which most of us have experienced first hand. Sounds like a race to the bottom to me! Now it seems this Wall Street Bankster has had a "come to Jesus moment". Now he says the repeal of "Glass Stegal" may have been a mistake and all of this calamity may have been "unintended consequences of financial innovation", according the Observer. Seems all this innovation has put a lot of seniors on food stamps and hunting for the local food pantry. If you do not think so, come to the Center on Friday mornings. Not to worry as they say he made enough money from tax payer bailouts "to air condition hell". So it goes. When I am elected president, me and Larry the Cable Guy, along with Sarah Palin will save the day. Stay tuned...Vote Old Goat!!
Our board member, Arthur, says he has been reading the Bible again about that part where God created man, then rested. Arthur says he figures that after that, God created woman and now neither God nor man have rested again!!
Our esteemed potentate Vice President Dale says he has a sure fire way to loose weight. He says you eat as much as you can for 2 days, then you skip one day. He says that after going around skipping on the 3rd day he is too tired to eat on the 4th day. He ain't right!
All for now...
