Magician Steve Crawford is set to dazzle young audiences at the Blanchard Library this July with his program, “Circus of the Arts.” The performance is presented as part of the Pioneer Library System’s summer reading program for children, Be Creative @ Your Library.Crawford will share his magic at the Blanchard Public Library, at the American Legion Post 261, 103 S. Main St., Wednesday, July 8, at 10:30 a.m.
In “Circus of the Arts,” Crawford will share the arts of balloon sculpture, improvisational acting, storytelling, and juggling. Young audience members will have the opportunity to join in the fun throughout the program.
Crawford has made several television appearances and holds the world record for his two-second escape from police handcuffs. He has been providing motivational assemblies to schools for more than 25 years. His shows celebrate individuality, learning and creativity.
“Magic is a fantastic way to help kids understand the value of art. Steve is great about teaching his audiences something new,” said Gary Kramer, public information officer at the Pioneer Library System.
The programs are free and open to the public. The Children’s Summer Reading Program is part of a state-wide reading initiative developed by the Oklahoma Department of Libraries and offered state-wide with the support of Sonic—America’s Drive In, Corp., The Oklahoman, Institute of Museum and Library Services, and locally with the support of The Anne & Henry Zarrow Foundation, Hitachi Computer Products (America), Inc., the Oklahoma Arts Council, Pioneer Library System, and Friends of the Library.
