Quarters for Gary (All Change will be accepted).

 

The students of Verden High School are collecting funds for a classmate’s funeral expenses.  Check your couch or your car – we are collecting any and all amounts of coins and donations for the family of Gary Tags.  Gary died this weekend in a tragic accident at Fort Cobb Lake.  All proceeds will assist with his funeral expenses.

Pocasset-Meridian-Am-Po Alumni reunion

Pocasset-Meridian-Am-Po Alumni reunion is set for April 7 at the Pocasset School cafeteria. Doors will open at 2:30 p.m. with the meal being served at 4 p.m.

American Association of University Women

April Meeting and Book Review


The Chickasha Branch of AAUW will meet Tuesday, April 10 at 7:15 p.m. at The Chickasha Public Library.  Member Marsha Baker will lead the book discussion on the topic of "Health and Wellness - Your Choices". The public is invited to attend the gathering.  Please call Angie at 779-6969 for more information.



Boardwalk Melody Hour Murders

Chickasha Community Theatre will present an audience interactive dinner theatre, "Boardwalk Melody Hour Murders," April 13-14 and 27-28 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 6th and Kansas.  Tickets are $20, with CCT members receiving a 15% discount. Advanced reservations are required because of limited seating and food preparation.  Reservations may be made by calling Jay's Jewelry 405-224-9021 and ask for Kristy.  This murder mystery comedy will keep you laughing and guessing till the last minute.





FREE All Day Music Fest

There will be a FREE Bluegrass/Gospel/Country/Folk Music Fest at Borden Park Community Center at 200 North 18th in Chickasha on Saturday, April 14, 2012.

The doors will open at 9:00 a.m. for coffee and doughnuts and will start with a jamming session until 10:00 a.m.  Musical groups will be scheduled from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.  Bring a finger food and enjoy music and singing.  All ages are welcome and the event is wheelchair accessible.  Admission is by donations to pay for the rent for the one-day event at the Community Center.

The Music Fest will be held every month on the second Saturday.  The Music Fest in May will be Saturday, May 12, 2012.  To schedule to play or for more information contact Jallane or Chet Link at (405) 224-6790 or (405) 222-6926.



Chisholm Trail Republican Women

Chisholm Trail Republican Women will meet Monday, April 16 at 6:30 p.m.  Meeting will be held at Canadian Valley Tech Center, 1401 Michigan, Chickasha. Please enter through the east door and go to your right.

Pam Pollard, vice-chairman, of Oklahoma GOP Party, will be the guest speaker.

Vidalia onion sales

Grady County OHCE members will be taking orders for sweet Vidalia onions beginning now through mid-April. They are $10 for a 10-pound bag and all profit will go to offset the cost of transportation for county and state patients receiving care at one of 24 Shriners' Hospitals and four Burn Units. They will be available for delivery about the first week of May. Rodeo ambassadors sought

The Chickasha Rodeo Board is seeking ambassador candidates for the 73rd annual Chickasha Rodeo.  Eligible candidates are young men and women, ages 8-21.  The winner will be awarded a brand new 14 ft. stock trailer.  All other contestants will receive 10% of their ticket sales as well as many other prizes.  Contestants will be judged on ticket sales, horsemanship, appearance and personality.  For more information, contact Sydney Painter at 405-863-4686.  Deadline for entries is April 10.



Family Fun community event

The Grady County Interagency Coalition is sponsoring a Family Fun community event on Thursday, April 26 from 5-7 p.m. in the parking lot of the Chickasha Atwood’s.  The Grady County Interagency Coalition is a collection of businesses and agencies in the community that work together to improve the quality of the community.

The purpose of this event is to celebrate Week of the Young Child and to celebrate families and children in the community.

The free family fun event will showcase many of the community vehicles and personnel for families to meet, take pictures, and explore.

There will also have games set up for the families to enjoy as well as many family resources and information.
