Dibble Senior Citizens News

Greetings to the Seniors of the Dibble Community!

Big week last week as we got a very good truck from the Regional Food Bank for our Friday Food Pantry.  Our bag ladies were in high gear as they bagged several different items for food baskets.  One hundred and seven families  and seniors were served last Friday.  If you are low income and you end up with too much month and not enough Social Security, feel free to come in and take a number and a cup of coffee and our pantry ladies will be glad to help you out.  Remember you need to be in the Dibble School District and low income to qualify.  If your pride is sticking out concerning getting food assistance, please leave that in your car as we do not do pride here.  Things happen!!!

Big thanks to Professional Home Care for blood pressure and blood sugar tests on Friday.  Carmen did not get to call our Bingo on Friday, as the building was used for a memorial service for Mr. Biedy who passed away recently.  Our thoughts are with the family.

Remember Tuesday, May 8th, as we go to the Regional Food Bank for Pay Back Day.  Be there!!

Big thanks to the Town of Dibble as they continue to support our efforts here. We could not continue without their support!

Our sick list is still improving.  However, Don Hedrick goes in on Friday to have his carotid arteries cleaned out.  Laverne Rodgers will be in Baptist Hospital for surgery on Monday.  Our thoughts will be with you both!   I have not had any surgery this year so I can only talk about my old ones.  My wife says the doctors can do a whole face transplant these days, but my insurance company says they can insure me for only one week at a time!  How rude!!

I am having second thoughts about running for President of the United States as I observe what happened to the last one.  Just as he got elected he stepped off into a train wreck.  I bet he now wishes he had second thoughts also!  It is pretty bad when before you help a man find work you first have to give him blood or carry him on your back to the emergency room!  Besides that, it doesn’t pay enough!!  The “Banksters” who got bailed out on Wall Street made a bunch more money than the President did!  Who would want it??  Seems like catching the bouquet of flowers at a funeral to me!  Most Seniors I know think the whole thing is a mess anyway and they get the feeling that all the candidates on both sides are holes looking for a doughnut.  Anyway I may choose to suspend my campaign unless popular demand deems otherwise.  More on this later.

My twin granddaughters asked me how it was to be a kid in the “old days” before video games, x-box and electronics.  I told them just to look at the toys on the walls at Cracker Barrel and they would know!  Then they later told their Mother they thought I wasn’t right!!  Little twerps!!

Our esteemed Vice President Dale says he has figured out why so many young girls are getting belly rings these days.  He says that way they can run a small rope through them and someone will be able to pull them away from the hog line at Golden Corral!!  He ain’t right either!!

All for now...
