HALLOWEEN: Local Events & Activites

The city of Chickasha will play host to the ghosts and goblins of Halloween this weekend, The downtown merchants will be hosting their annual Neewollah Festival, which includes trick-or-treating downtown, on Friday, Oct. 30 from 5-7 p.m. with residential trick-or-treating to be held on Halloween, Saturday, Oct. 31 elsewhere in the community.

FRIDAY



Neewollah Festival

• When: Friday, Oct. 30, 5-7 p.m.,

• Where: Downtown Chickasha

• Details: Downtown merchants will open their doors to the costumed kids for treats and more. For information, call 405-224-0787.



Elks Lodge

Annual Halloween Carnival

• When: Friday, Oct. 30, 6-8 p.m.

• Where: 1818 W. Country Club Rd., Chickasha

• Details: Open to the public. There will be lots of games, prizes, concessions & loads of fun.



Grace Living Center

• What: Grace Living Center will welcome trick-or-treaters for free treats.

• When: Oct. 30, 6- 8 p.m.

• Where: Grace Living Center, 2300 Iowa Ave.

Verden PTO

Fall Carnival

• When: Friday, Oct. 30, 6-9 p.m.

• Where: Verden School Cafeteria/Gym

• Details: Concessions & games for all ages. Tickets 50¢.



FOL's 2009 Masquerade Ball

for high school students

• Who: High School Students

• When: Friday, October 30, 2009, 9 p.m. - 12 midnight

• Where: Shannon Springs Bathhouse

• Details: A current School ID, valid driver’s license or government issued ID will be necessary to enter the High School Ball as permitted ages are 15-19. Event will provide refreshments, photo opportunities, contests, music and dancing. Guests attending the High School Ball will not be allowed to leave the premises and then return to the dance unless return is accompanied by a parent. Chaperones and Security will be present at this event and underage drinking or violence will not be tolerated. Proper attire (costume or formal) and mask are required to enter. Masks will be available for purchase at the venue the night of the Ball. Ticket prices are $10.00 for high school students, All proceeds will go toward helping the Festival of Light go green by changing the incandescent lighting to LED lighting. Annual Fall Festival

• When: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 31

• Where: 910 E. Dell, across the street from the Ninnekah Elementary School.

• Details: The event is free and will include hot dogs, frito chili pie, games, candy, face painting, a hay-ride, and more.

17th Annual

Church-A-Treat

• When: Saturday, Oct. 31; 5-8 p.m.

• Where: Lincoln School

• Details: Food , games & treats available.

Yard Haunt

• When: Oct. 31, 6 p.m. - ?

• Where: 3225 Park

• Details: No charge to visit "Drac's crib". Scares for all ages.



Jahn's Pumpkin Hill - Cyril

• What: Tractor pull farm tours, pumpkin and hay maze, horses, cattle, pigs, goats, chickens

• When: Now thru Oct. 31, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.; Sundays, 1-6 p.m.

Reding Farm Maize

• What: Annual Cornfield Maze, hay rides, duck & hamster races, corn & pumpkin cannons, huge sand pile & more

    Gene Watson, the country music legend with 21 top 10 songs, will return to the Chickasha High School Activity Center for a 7:30 p.m. show Oct. 9.
    This will be Watson’s fourth consecutive year to perform at Chickasha High School, having played there every year since the facility opened in 2007.

  • Art classes offered at Epworth Methodist

    Elizabeth Johnson, local Chickasha artist and teacher, has announced that she will be offering art classes for kids and adults this fall.
    All classes begin on Tuesday, Sept. 7 at the Epworth United Methodist Church, 4th and Iowa, Chickasha.

  • Butler announces AT&T retirement

    After 44 years of service, Jerry Butler has announced his retirement from AT&T
    Butler began his career with Southwestern Bell Telephone now AT&T in June of 1966.
    His first job assignment was in Alva, Okla., as a Lineman.
    In November he transferred to Chickasha where he continued as a Lineman until June of 1970.

    CHICKASHA, Okla. –Members of Grady County’s Oklahoma Home and Community Education organization met recently in Oklahoma City for the group’s 75th annual state meeting. This year’s theme was “Dreams to Diamonds,” which reflected that the group was observing its 75th birthday.

    Blood donors will receive two tickets to the Oklahoma City Zoo and a “Feel Wild” T-shirt when they give blood with Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI) this summer. First Baptist Church is hosting a blood drive 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 18 at the High School Cafeteria, 901 S. Maple.
