Members of Grady County OHCE are busily preparing for their annual Style Show which will be held at Canadian Valley Technology Center on April 13.
Activities will start at 6:30 p.m. in the Seminar Center with members of the seven county clubs modeling their creations. Other family and friends will also be featured wearing club members designs.
Some of our Grady County 4-H members will also be showcasing some of their recent creations as an added feature of the Style Show this anniversary year.
The theme for the event, “Fashion Through the Ages,” will feature garments from other decades reflecting how fashion has evolved, and sometimes returns full circle.
This annual event is documented back to the early 1930s, and many members have been yearly participants dating back to the 1940s. 2010 is OHCE’s 75th anniversary year in Oklahoma, as well as Grady County’s 95th anniversary year. The early clubs were called Home Demonstration Clubs, later becoming Extension Clubs, and now are known as OHCE (Oklahoma Home and Community Education).
Janet Howard and Janice Cochrum will entertain with their dulcimers and give a brief the history of their instruments. Narration will be by Susan Winchester, former State Representative.
Admission is free and the public is invited to this event on Tuesday, April 13, at 6:30 p.m. Come and enjoy the evening, support your local clubs, visit with friends and neighbors, enjoy delicious refreshments provided by some of the “Best Cooks in Grady County” and enjoy great entertainment.
