Letters to the editor; Week of January 24th

Reader doubts Obama truthfulness

To the editor,

I believe we have a problem! We have a President Who lies to us! Everthing will be open to you, the public? We have a leader of the House of Representatives who lies to us! It is all open debating? We have a leader of the Senate who lies to us! It is best plan for you? We have open bribes being done for votes by our government officials? The church should not run the government, neither should the government run the church. Let GOD run both!

Are we the Christians not supposed to get involved in politics? I believe the answer is we cannot separate our right to always be involved in the rights stated in the following part of Declaration Independence of the United States of America.

“When, in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one People to dissolve the political Bands which have connected tem with another, and to assume amongh the Powers of the Earth, separate and equal Station to which the Laws of Nature and Nature’s God entitle them, a decent Respect to Opinions of Mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the Separation. WE hold these truths to be self-evident, that all Men are creatd equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Libert, and the pursuit of Happiness... That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the consent of the Governed, that whenever any form of Government becomes dfestructive of these Ends, it is the Right of the poeple to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its Foundation on such Principles, and organizing its Powers in such Form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”

There of course is a lot more to our Declaration of Independence than what is here. I think you get my point! We are at a crossroads, WE the American Citizens need to let the politicians know that it is our right to alter what they are doing! I am saying we must vote out the Government officials that have become destructive to us! IS IT TIME YOU DID SOMETHING?

The voters have spoken in Alex

To the editor,

It's of little surprise that the huge bond proposal failed in the Alex School District during times of economic trials.

Granted, education of our children will aid to direct our future, however, fundamentals of life, including the ability to meet financial needs and family well-being, must also be considered initially as near depression times abound requiring everyone to "tighten their belts" - schools included, in order to survive.

Bravo! to voters who took time and concern to voice their opinion.

Be thankful for what you have!
