Alex let a good opportunity fail
To the editor,
We as alumni, teachers, and members of alex and bradley communities had a real chance to do something great on tuesday the 12th of January, but failed to provide the necessary action to get it done. We needed a new auditorium for a long time and had the chance, but once again we failed as alumni and community members.
It is a shame that a 3rd grader at Alex elementary can visual see the need and be excited about the new proposed plan. As i said before, once again as adults you failed to provide for the kids of Alex Schools. We may never have this chance to have this oppoertunity again.
We as adults should have enough decency to put aside our differences and come together to build for the future. There is absolutely no reason this bond shuld have failed!!!!
In closing, SHAME ON THE ONES WHO VOTED NO!!!!

Reader dismayed by lack of action
To the editor,
First of all, I would like to start off with saying how much I enjoy my hometown newspaper. I was born and raised in Chickasha and much of my family still lives there. So you can tell my roots grow deep. I recently received my newspaper and it had a year in review supplement in it.
How sad the news inside.
The tragedies in people's lives and the heartache they must have endured. I understand the hardships that losing a loved one causes in a family. I lost a sister as a result of a drunk driver 20 years ago.
What I do not understand is, what happened to the man that was driving the jeep while he was intoxicated? Did it change him or his family? These are questions I would like to hear from the other side. I know how it feels from my perspective, but how does it feel when you're the one who took the life of someone else?
I have read many editorials in the newspaper about this accident, but nothing that I know of has transpired to this date. Is it who you know in the system or is it a flaw in the system that some gets by and others don't.
Again, I enjoy my hometown newspaper, but I don't enjoy seeing the slips in the law enforcement.

Henry Christian Family expresses thanks

The Henry Christian Family would like to express our gratitude for the prayers and kindness extended during the days following the passing of Henry Christian. A special thank you to the pastor and members of Bible Baptist Church for the supplying Christmas dinner as well as support during the Christmas Season.
Edna Christian, Dedra, Johnathan, Travis and the whole family that loved Henry so much.
Musicfest beginning its ninth year
To the editor,
We are beginning our ninth year of the Musicfest Fellowship. Ed & I sponsored the fellowship until August, 2007, when he started a new life in heaven. Since that time, my daughter, Janet, has been co-sponsor. Musicfest has met on the second Saturday of the month from October to May at Borden Park Community Center since January 2002. We now meet from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Many volunteers have made this fellowship a vital part of the community. The "donation box" keeps the building rent paid, coffee & donuts, schedules mailed, food, drinks, printing, etc. Volunteers come as musicians, as many as 75 in one day; sound systems technicians as well as equipment loaned; while various others serve as hosts and hostesses. Volunteers also come as emcees, photographers, set-up & clean-up crews, jamming leaders, and as line dance leaders.
Most of our volunteers start coming in at 8 a.m. to get ready for the day. Doug Base from Norman is the exception. He is here by 6:30 or 7 a.m to set up his own sound system. He sets up and takes down and plays the bass guitar all day, as needed.
Many volunteer musicians and helpers are from Chickasha, but they also come from Oklahoma City, Norman, Purcell, Stonewall, Blanchard, Tuttle, Elgin, Marlow, El Reno and other cities. To name all of our fantastic volunteers would take too much space. Actually, everyone, who attends, is so much a part that we each one consider we are one big family. Love and fellowship is given and received by all.
A big THANK YOU to the Express-Star, Shopper Topper, Senior Citizens president, nutrition center staff for advertising so expertly for us.
