Areas of County could see burn ban lifted

GRADY COUNTY — Another cold front may be headed Grady County's way this Thursday, possibly bringing more than an inch of rain, according to Dale Thompson, Grady County Emergency Management Director.

While the Grady County burn ban expired on Aug. 31, Governor Mary Fallin's statewide burn ban is still in effect. Thompson predicted that the burn ban may be lifted in some areas of the state due to cooler, wetter conditions, but this remains to be seen.

Thompson is working with Mike Carter, Chief of Security at the University of Science and Arts Oklahoma. They are planning a full scale active shooter scenario at the college, probably around spring break.

There will be an ice cream social to benefit the Harold Fire Department on Sept. 22 from 6-8 p.m at the Harold Fire Station, sponsored by the Arcadia Club. Donations will be accepted and all proceeds will go to the Harold Fire Department for equipment and other needs.
