Grab the umbrella and stay tuned to weather alerts, Grady County is included in the flash flood watch issued by the National Weather Service.
Moisture is streaming into the area courtesy of Tropical Storm Hermine, which is tracking through the state from Texas. Showers began Tuesday afternoon and are forecast to continue through Wednesday night. The NWS warned that some of the rainfall could be heavy.
"I hope it's not like the situation we had in 2007," Grady County Emergency Director Dale Thompson said while addressing the commissioner's meeting Tuesday morning. Thompson referred to the flash floods that devastated Chickasha in the summer of 2007. "I've been posting messages on our Facebook page and contacting the media to get the word out. Everyone should be aware and prepared in case the flooding hits."

"This is just another way to get the information out there. There is no cost. Just sign up," Thompson said.
The NWS advised that remnants of the tropical storm will lead to widespread showers and thunderstorms with the potential for heavy rain and flash flooding. The flash food watch is in effect until Thursday morning.
