Thanks to the amazing generosity and talent of Pat Merrick of Merrick Home Construction and numerous construction sponsors, CASA Voices for Children, Inc. will be able to continue serving as the voice of Grady County’s abused and neglected children. Merrick Home Construction is a family owned business operated by Pat Merrick, his wife Debbie, their son Kyle and his wife Tara. With over 35 years experience in commercial and residential construction, Merrick Home Construction has spent the last 13 years building homes for families in the central Oklahoma area. Their goal is to give people what they want.
When CASA Executive Director Julie Gordon met with Merrick to thank him for this beautiful and original playhouse, he thanked her for the opportunity to be a part of this cause.
“It has been my pleasure to do this because of what it represents. I can’t imagine my grandkids or any other child being mistreated,” he said.
Merrick went on to say that a friend of his taught him long ago that we are here to help each other.
Many area businesses feel the same way – thanks to their generosity, this year’s playhouse was constructed 100% by donated materials. The thirteen Construction Sponsors include: Builder - Merrick Home Construction; Materials – ABC Supply Co., Inc., Blanchard Building Center, Brandts ACE Hardware, Chickasha Lumber Company, Forest Building Materials, The Glass Shop, Home Depot, Sherwin-Williams, Taylor Building Systems, Ward Wood; Printing – Richard’s Printing; and Transportation – Johnson’s Wrecker Crane.
Local businesses are stepping up as well. To date, we have seventeen $200.00 Community Sponsors, including: Arvest Bank, Baity Screw Machine Products, Chickasha Bank & Trust Company, CMS Willowbrook Construction Management, Cochran Abstract, First Christian Church, First National Bank & Trust Co., IBC Bank, LaForge Properties, Mosley Agency, Oak Tree Counseling Services, Ouachita Exploration, Inc., Sanders, Welch & Wallis, Shaw Production Management, Solutions Auto Group, Standley Systems and Time Out RV Park. It’s not too late to be included in this list of caring and supportive businesses, just call Julie at CASA Voices for Children, Inc. at 405-224-0404.
We also want to thank Dr. George Williams of Grand Avenue Dental for graciously offering the 8th Street and Grand Ave. location to display the 2012 Playhouse. This will remain its temporary home until Johnson’s Wrecker relocates it to the home of a very lucky winner following the August 25th drawing.
CASA Voices for Children, Inc. recruits and trains everyday heros from the community. Caring citizens are needed to help children who are victims of abuse and neglect and to be the voice of that child in court – to ensure that each child’s voice is heard and that his/her best interests are being served. For additional information about becoming a volunteer advocate or to express interest in assisting with future fundraising efforts, please call the CASA office at 405-224-0404.
