CHICKASHA —
Reserved seat tickets are now on sale for “Rock and Soul”, a concert scheduled for Dec. 17 at the Chickasha High School Activity Center auditorium.
The show will feature the return of Chicago resident Johnny Rogers, best known for his tribute to Buddy Holly and other rock and roll legends. Rogers has performed his show in Las Vegas, New York, Branson and London.
“Johnny Rogers is just an amazing talent,” said the show’s promoter Bruce McGrew. “It’s hard to put a label on him, because he does so many things very well. He’s the only person I’ve ever seen who can sing like Buddy Holly, Elvis or Johnny Cash and play guitar like Jimi Hendrix or Stevie Ray Vaughan. He’s certainly the best showman I’ve ever seen.”
Rogers will be backed by several local musicians, including Dr. Dan Hanson from USAO on keyboards, and Grady County commissioner Mike Lennier on guitar.
The evening will begin with a Las Vegas Soul Revue featuring two veteran Vegas soul singers known as Caz and Rheda. The pair will perform classic soul hits from Gladys Knight, Diana Ross and Roberta Flack, along with The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Lionel Ritchie and Louis Armstrong.
The show will feature a number of Christmas favorites as well.
Proceeds from the concert will go to purchase Christmas gifts for Grady County Foster Kids.
“Rock and Soul” is sponsored by The Carpet Market, Bryan’s Car Corner, Thome Cook Farmer’s Insurance, M&M Furniture, Dr. Pepper, First National Bank, A&E Grill, Tornado Alley Promotional Products, Dunn’s Food Center, Ross Seed Company, Dr. Mark Mettry DDS, Eduardo’s, and M&M Computer Solutions.
Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. show are $18 and available by calling OK Music Show at (405) 243-7252.
