Sheriff’s Investigators and Deputies executed a search warrant on a residence in the eastern part of the county, finding a working meth lab.
Investigators received information pertaining to a possible meth lab out on county street 2935 in the Naples area.
After obtaining the search warrant, the Special Response & Tactics Team was activated to execute the warrant. The SRT team made entry, two suspects Jerry Lynn Buchanan 47 (a registered sex offender) and Dorothea Elaine Arterberry, 51, where in the house.
Deputies searched the area around the residence and found the meth lab. Inside the home, deputies found meth and drug paraphernalia. Deputies found the lab in a shelter made for animals at the back of the property.
Inside the shelter a container ,with hoses and jars filled with a liquid substance was found. When Buchanan was asked if the lab was his, he replied saying “yes.”
Also found was a thermos filled with anhydrous used to cook meth.
“These labs are dangerous and there are families living in the area and kids playing outside,” Grady County Sheriff Art Kell said. “We believe we are seeing a come back of meth labs in our communities and now our families are in danger.”
Kell said it was brought to his attention that individuals can retrieve meth recipes on the Internet on how to make crystal dope in two to three hours using a two liter bottle.
“This recipe is known as the “Shake n’ Bake” or “One-Pot Method,” Kell said. “These people have evil intentions. Our department will never quit looking for criminals, these type of people plant wickedness and harvest the same, their intentions are to profit and find new users and destroy people’s lives. With this in mind, Romans 13:4 says “we are the ministers of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon them that do evil.”
Both suspects are booked into the Grady County jail on manufacturing of CDS/possession of material with intent to manufacture, possession of controlled substance and unlawful possession of paraphernalia. Buchanan is also registered as a sex offender in our county.
