Blog: Oscar nominations are in

CHICKASHA — The 2013 Oscar nominations have been announced. The award ceremony is scheduled to air Feb. 24 and Seth MacFarlane will be hosting.

Before the nominations were announced almost everyone assumed (including myself) that movies such as "Les Miserables" and "Argo" would score big nominations.

Every nominee in the Best Supporting Actor category has ironically already won an Oscar. Alan Arkin ("Argo"), Robert De Niro ("Silver Linings), Philip Seymour Hoffman ("The Master"), Tommy Lee Jones ("Lincoln") and Christoph Waltz ("Djano") will all be in the running for the award.

Up for Best Actor is Bradley Cooper, "Silver Linings Playbook"; Daniel Day-Lewis, "Lincoln"' Hugh Jackman, "Les Miserables" Joaquin Phoenix, "The Master"; Denzel Washington, "Flight."

The supporting actress category is filled with a handful of talented women including Anne Hathaway, "Les Miserables"; Amy Adams, "The Master"; Sally Field, "Lincoln"; Helen Hunt, "The Sessions"; Jacki Weaver, "Silver Linings Playbook." If I had to bet, I think Anne Hathaway will come away with the win. "Les Mis" may of fell a bit short but I don't think Hathaway will.

The original song category has songs from "Ted," "Skyfall," "Les Miserables" and other big box office hits. I'd love to see Adele Adkins and Paul Epworth win for "Skyfall." I remember reading that the moment Daniel Craig heard the theme for the latest Bond hit he actually cried. Pretty amazing.

Rumor has it Lincoln will score big, but I guess we'll have to all tune in at the end of February and see.
