Reader wants to know where insurance money went

CHICKASHA — Dear Editor:

Recently, a couple of friends have expressed an interest in what might become of the $4 million-plus of insurance recoveries in the hands of the Chickasha School District. If they don’t know, I suspect many of you do not know either.

A better question would be, “What became of those funds?” Because that money is substantially gone, and I believe your readers (and taxpayers) will take some interest in reading the breakdown of what for and where it went. Further, I firmly believe such revelation should come from your school system – both members and administration.

It comes to mind that since a significant portion of those funds went for fixed assets; why was this money not used for the early childhood school (thus relieving the taxpayers of that much of the $20 million debt recently passed)?

And on that subject, would someone please reveal the amount of the non-competitive fees associated with that $20 million bond issue? No, strike “please.” I insist you publish those fees.
