CHICKASHA — The Amber couple arrested Tuesday has been released from jail.
Assistant District Attorney Leah Edwards said her office is not quite ready to file charges against the couple, opting to continue the investigation.
Rickey Don Doughty, 39, and his wife Tammy Marie Doughty, 33, were arrested Tuesday by Grady County Deputy Lt. Jim Peek in connection with the alleged sexual battery of their 16-year-old daughter.
Rickey Doughty is accused of having molested the 16-year-old while administering a spanking. His wife allegedly knew of the incident and failed to report it.
“Jim (Peek) did everything right,” Edwards said concerning the investigation. Edwards said she is awaiting the results from forensic interviews conducted with the children by the Department of Human Services.
Those results will take several days, Edwards explained, so she has declined to file charges for now, allowing the Doughtys out of jail.
The family’s four children were taken into state’s custody on Tuesday.
