CHICKASHA — A $500,000 bond was set in the case of an alleged molester from Pocasset.
William Jason Caldwell, 31, appeared in District Court Wednesday following his arrest on child molestation charges.
Asst. District Attorney Lesley March said the bond was set high as Caldwell is considered a flight risk. A witness reported that Caldwell was encouraged by a family member to flee the state.
March said the suspect has family in both Texas and New Mexico.
March said Caldwell is also still a potential threat to the community. She added that interviews are being conducted with other children who may be potential victims.
“We do not know how far reaching this is,” March said.
Caldwell reportedly provided the Grady County Sheriff’s Office with a confession and a letter of apology to his victim. March said Undersheriff Irene Harvey has done an excellent job of putting together a solid case against Caldwell.
He currently is accused of allegedly placing his hands down the pants of a four-year-old.
