Grady County Commissioner Mike Lennier of District. No. 2 has announced that, according to the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, K & R Builders, Inc. has been awarded a contract in the amount of $1,417, 092.04 for construction of the Washita River Bridge at Verden.
The construction start date is May 5, 2008. The contract calls for a construction time of 120 days.
“Usually, a contractor is allowed a flexible start date of up to six months to begin construction, but due to the serious impact the loss of this bridge has caused the Verden community, we were able to get this bid let with no flex-start time,” said Lennier. “Hopefully, weather permitting, we will get this bridge built by the end of summer.”
