Register now for Girl Scouts. Members of the Washita Valley Service Unit for Girl Scouts-Western Oklahoma will hold a new and returning Girl Scout membership event on Saturday, Sept. 6 at the Chickasha Public Library, 527 N. Iowa.
All girls in grades Pre-k through 12th grade are invited to attend and meet with local Girl Scout troop leaders. Information on local meetings and activities will be available.
Service Team members, Christy Martin, Charli Nye and Alyson Kopycinski will be on hand to answer all questions, enroll girls and talk with potential new adult volunteers. Membership in Girl Scouts has grown to nearly 14,000 since last year. Adults interested in volunteering at any level possible are greatly needed.
In addition, a ceremony opening a time capsule buried by troops in the Chickasha Neighborhood in 1987 will be held at 10 a.m. Girl Scout registration will follow the ceremony from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the library meeting room.
