A perimeter fence for the Grady County Fairgrounds was the first item of business at the Grady County Commissioner’s meeting on Monday, Sept. 29.
Fairgrounds Marketing Director Peggy McMahan told the board about the application for a grant to cover the cost of the fencing project at the fairgrounds. According to McMahan, the fence is estimated to cost $200,000. She asked the board, as owners of the property, to approve the grant application.
The grant, for which the application was approved, is an 80/20 grant through Transportation Enhancement and will take about a year to process if given.
Next, commissioners approved a proposal for insurance between ACCO Self Insurance Group and the Grady County Industrial Authority, choosing payment option one, which was to make a single payment of $3,500. The item must be approved by the excise board.
They also approved a proposal of insurance between ACCO Self Insurance Group and the Grady County Home Finance Authority with the Home Finance Authority paying for the coverage.
Then the board voted to approve the renewal bond for Paulette Nicholas as Treasurer for the Grady County Fire Department at a cost of $519 for a $150,000 bond.
Grady County Fire Chief Perry Wenzel told the board that a 1995 one-ton Brush Pumper truck at the Pioneer Fire Station is in need of repair. Wenzel said the truck blew a seal on the transmission. The transmission fluid then leaked out onto the ground and caught on fire, catching the truck on fire. At the same time, the transmission burned up because of the lack of transmission fluid.
According to Wenzel, the truck has been repaired twice. The estimated cost of repairs is $2,300 to $4,000.
Next, the board voted to re-appoint Don Bowser to the McClain-Grady County EMS Board with a term expiring Oct. 31, 2013.
Finally, the board voted to approve the plat of Arbor Creek Estates, excluding county maintenance of roads.
