Chickasha’s fourth and fifth graders have a new sport in their PE curriculum. The district has been awarded a grant from the Oklahoma Wildlife Department, as well as financial support from the Chickasha Public Schools Foundation and many other generous local businesses to participate in Archery.
Students have been busy learning the rules and skills last week, and this week they are practicing their skills. In February, the top ten boys and top ten girls from Grand, Southwest and Lincoln will all participate in a city wide tournament. Later in the Spring, the top eight boys and top eight girls from all three school will represent the district in the state tournament in Oklahoma City.
Grand, Southwest and Lincoln are scheduling time for the students to practice in the evenings. More information about the times for each individual school will come home with the students.
The elementary schools want to thank everyone involved for making this new fun sport available in Chickasha Public Schools.
