Members of P.E.O. Chapter FV will meet Mon., March 30, 2009 in the Parlor of Epworth Church. Social time begins at 6:30 pm with the business meeting starting at 7 pm. Pre-enrollment for students who plan to attend Pre-Kindergarten or Kindergarten students who will be new to Middleberg Public Schools will be held on Monday, March 30. Enrollment will be held in the early childhood center at Middleberg Schools between the hours of 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Pre-Kindergarten requirements for enrollment are: Students must be four years old on or before September 1, 2009, must bring a copy of Certified Birth Certificate, a current Immunization Record, four DPT, three Polio, one MMR, three Hepatitis B (takes six months to complete), two Hepatitis A (takes six months to complete), Varicella, or a statement of having had chicken pox. Family mediation
training offered
A 40 hour family mediation course will be held in Chickasha, April 1st through April 4th. The course is designed to train individuals to mediate family and divorce matters and meets the training requirements for professional mediators to qualify for the District Court and is approved by the Oklahoma Bar Association for mandatory continuing legal education. Individuals who complete the course will receive a certificate and be qualified to assist in resolving a variety of family and divorce matters. The course is sponsored by the Mediation Institute, a private, not-for-profit organization that conducts training in throughout Oklahoma. Limited scholarship assistance is available. The first Alex Alumni Basketball Bash will be held Saturday, March 28 at 2 p.m. in the Alex School gymnasium. Admission is $3 for players and spectators. taco fundraiser
The Verden PTO will host a Taco Dinner on Friday, March 27 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Verden School cafeteria. The meal includes tacos, beans, Mexican rice, drink and dessert. Meal prices are $5 for a three-taco platter and $3 for a two-taco platter. A talent show featuring Verden students will follow the meal. Admission to the show is free with a meal purchase or $2 for those not attending the dinner. Profits will be used to sponsor Verden student activities and to purchase needed items for Verden Schools.

The Haskell Indian Nations FP Commencement Committee is looking for native men’s and women’s fast-pitch teams for their 15th annual tournament. The tournament will be played on Saturday, May 9 and Sunday, May10 at the Clinton Lake Sports Complex in Lawrence, KS. The entry deadline is May 4. James Caraway Christian Academy, located eight minutes north on Hwy 81, one mile west of the Chickasha Airport, is a non-profit ministry providing K-12th grade private education. To ensure the finest in early reading education, they limit enrollment to only eight children in their reading program. To qualify for placement, a Reading Readiness Test is given. This test will show if a child’s maturity level and basic motor skills substantiate academic preparedness. Applications for enrollment may be accessed online or by calling the school office for enrollment forms to be mailed to your home. Line Dance lessons offered
Free line dance lessons are being offered at the Best Western Inn in Chickasha, 2101 S. 4th St., across the street from McDonalds. to host fundraiser
The Verden Youth Baseball and Verden Ag programs invite you to a pulled pork fundraiser from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 28 in the Verden School cafeteria. The $5 meal includes pulled pork sandwich, baked beans, chips, drink and homemade dessert. The event is to raise money for the Verden Summer Youth baseball program and to promote local youth and surrounding areas to Ag and Pork Show animals. Raffle tickets will be sold for $1 for Stephen Alexander autographed footballs and other autographed items. The drawing is at 6 p.m. and you need not be present to win. Thanks to the Oklahoma Pork Council for donating the meat.
OHCE Style
Show set
The annual Grady County OHCE Style show will be held Tuesday, April 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Canadian Valley Technology Center. This is an annual event where the OHCE members, their family members and friends model the items that they have constructed during the past year. The theme of the show is "Fitting Pieces into Fashion" and will include children's garments, sportswear, best dress, embellished garments and accessories.
The public is invited to attend. There is no admission and there will be door prizes and refreshments.

There will be a scrapbooking event held to benefit Relay for Life Chickasha on Saturday, March 28 at the Borden Community Center located one block east of Chickasha High School. The day will include a nine hour crop from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Lunch and snacks are included with door prize drawings every hour. Make personalized luminaria bags and receive free Make’n’Takes.
