Michigan Ave. Baptist to host VBS

Michigan Avenue Baptist Church, 728 Michigan Ave., will host Vacation Bible School from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. June 10-12. The theme is “Boomerang Express: It all comes back to Jesus.” All are welcome. Children may sign up for VBS at the cookout at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9. Friday, June 12 is family night. coalition to meet

The Grady County Interagency and Community Coalition meets from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17 at CVTC. This month, Susan Winchester, the district’s former Oklahoma state representative, will speak. All Grady County residents and agencies or businesses are invited to attend. You will hear what coalition is planning for this summer and how you can become involved to help area children, seniors and others in Grady County live safer, healthier and happier lives. Christian Academy to host VBS

The Christian Academy has scheduled Vacation Bible School, themed “The Battle Belongs to the Lord,” for children ages four years through sixth grade at Ninnekah Church of Christ, 609 W. Hwy 277. Ogles plan reunion July 12

The 79th Ogle Family Reunion will start at 9 a.m. July 12 at the Grady County Fairgrounds Building. At 9 a.m. on that Sunday, coffee and rolls will be served for those who would like to visit. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. Participants should bring their favorite foods. Drinks will be provided. The John and Ora Barrett family will host the event. Guests are welcome.



Classes of 1970

planning reunion

Memorial fund set up at First National

A memorial fund has been set up at First national bank and Trust Company locations for the Hood family. Donations may be made to the Chris Hood Memorial Fund.



Time to pick up cemetery flowers

Cemetery employees of Rose Hill and Fairlawn cemeteries will soon be removing memorial flowers and decorations. Please pick up yours by Monday, June 8.



VBS dates set for Indian Church

The Fellowship of American Indian Church, 1217 W. Frisco, will have Vacation Bible School from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 8-12. The school will feature games, cheerleading, arts and crafts, Bible study, and other activities. Snacks will be provided. Call 274-3393 for a free ride. GOP Round-Up set for June 18

The Grady County Republicans will sponsor a roundup at 6 p.m. June 18 at the Grady County Fairgrounds. The keynote speaker will be Senate President Pro Tempore Glen Coffee. County and state elected officials will be introduced during the evening. Cost is $10 per person or $100 per table with seating for 10. Art at the Rock fundraiser set

Art at the Rock, a Chickasha Area Arts Council fundraiser, is scheduled for Saturday, June 20 at the home of Leman and Louise Spoon, at the corner of 29th and Grand. Arts Council to host annual meeting

The annual membership dinner meeting of the Chickasha Area Arts Council is at 6 p.m. Monday, June 8 at 224 S. 14th Street, Chickasha. Those planning to attend are asked to call 222-4797 or 574-1320 and make a reservation for the dinner. Major agenda items will be receiving updates on the Rock Island Arts Festival and the RIAF fundraising event at the Spoon home on Saturday, June 20 from 2-4 p.m., looking at CAAC membership policies and the website, voting on our new directors and learning about and suggesting new CAAC activities. All Arts Council members and others who have ideas and are interested in promoting the arts and cultural events in the community are invited and encouraged to attend.



CMS library

open in June

The Chickasha Middle School library will be from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday through Wednesday during the month of June for CMS students who want to come and read or work on Study Island.



Ninnekah Baptist taking food orders

Angel Food orders will be taken at the Ninnekah First Baptist Church from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. June 9-12. DivorceCare to meet at Epworth

DivorceCare, a weekly support group and seminar conducted by people who undestand divorce, meets from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. every Sunday at Epworth United Methodist Church in the New Life Center, north door. DivorceCare is nondenominational and features Biblical teaching for recovering from divorce or separation. A different topic is highlighed each week. Child care is available.



Line Dance

lessons offered

Free line dance lessons are being offered at Best Western Inn in Chickasha, 2101 S. 4th St., across the street from McDonalds. Classes meet from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the first and third Monday of every month in the banquet room. Beginners and all ages are welcome. Door prizes and refreshments are served. Juneteenth

celebration set

Juneteenth or June 19, celebrated the third week in June, is the oldest known celebration since President Lincoln issued a proclamation ending slavery in 1862. This year, Juneteenth will host its Celebration on Friday, June 12 and Saturday, June 13. The celebration kicks off Friday evening with a jazz cool-down session. At $2 per plate, you can taste and help select winners of the "Bake-Off" and "Cook-Off" delightful delicacies. Saturday morning, the festivities begin with a parade, opening ceremony, spiritual activities, free foods and lots of family fun. Donations or Contributions can be sent to Juneteenth Celebration in care of President James Dorn at P.O. Box 211 - Chickasha, OK 73023. $25 will reserve your booth space.
