Worth The Wait of WindRidge and WindRidge Legacy competed and passed the American Kennel Club C.G.C. test Feb. 23 at Canine Sports academy in Blanchard.
The Canine Good Citizen test requires eight weeks of training.
To complete the test, the dog is judged over 10 different training steps, and he must pass all 10 of the required steps to receive the title.
Steps include meeting strangers in a crowd; handling loud noises and distractions with little to no reaction; left, right and about turns with a heel and sit; off leash sit or down with handler walking away 20 paces, then being re-called to come forward and sit on command.
The dog must also allow a stranger to meet and pet/groom him, meet a strange dog and not over react,allow a stranger to shake the hand of his handler and be able to stay with a stranger for three minutes with the owner/handler absent.
The C.G.C test is the second step in training for the American Kennel Clubs C.D. (Companion Dog) and C.D.X (Companion Dog Excellent) titles.
All titles must be completed prior to becoming a licensed and registered working ''Therapy Canine''.
Four young student canines pass Canine Sport Academy's Beginners Basic Obedience class on Feb. 23. This 10-week training class teaches young canines socialization, human trust, basic sit, down and stay commands, properly walking on a leash on the left side of the handler, heel and wait commands are taught as well.
Worth The Wait Of WindRidge, known as Zochite, age of 12 months, was handled by 13-year-old Logan Jordan. WindRidge Legacy, known as Enzo, and his litter mate sister, WindRidge NameSake, known as Randi, age 6 months, were both handled by ElizaBeth Jordan.
WindRidge Disciple Of Khaine known as Khaine was team handled by ElizaBeth for obedience and Laur'en Jordan for conformation. All four canines were bred and owned by WindRidge German Shepherds located in Rush Springs,OK by the Jordan Family.
