Grady County’s income from oil and gas production has decreased by 80 percent in the last three months, Commissioner Windle Hardy said Monday.
The county has just $147,000 to divide among the three districts this month. The three districts have been sharing about $200,000 to $300,000 per month.
The revenue, which comes from the production of oil and gas, has been down for the last three months because of a decrease in production.
“They’re not producing, so we’re not making any money,” Hardy said.
In a regular meeting Monday, commissioners agreed to place an announcement of a public hearing on next week’s agenda at the request of Attorney Charles Park, who represents rural water. A previously filed petition considering the annexation to expand the water district for water services initially included Caddo County, but the public hearing, which is set for 9 a.m. on Sept. 14, will include only Grady County -- and Caddo County will be excluded from annexation, although the water in question comes from Caddo County.
Grady County Safety Director Terry Beard was on hand to present safety awards to elected officials and their employees, with 40 $20 cash card awards going to county employees and five jackets going to employees with 25 years or more without a recordable accident.
Commissioners approved an application for rural fire departments to apply for 80/20 REAP grants through ASCOG for equipment and/or expansion of rural fire stations.
As the grants are written, the fire stations will cover 100 percent of the costs and then will get back 80 percent of the total costs.
The board also approved an agreement between the Grady County Clerk’s Office and First National Bank and Trust Company for direct deposit as well as a request for bids for imaging process for land records for the county clerk’s office.
