WILL 2023 BE A DRAIN?

Chickasha is running out of water, albeit slowly, and by 2023 the city will need a new source of H2O.

City Manger Larry Shelton said Chickasha has spent the last 30 years researching possible water sources to replace or augment its current supplier, Lake Fort Cobb.

Within 15 years, the city's need for water will surpass Lake Fort Cobb's supply. The lake generates about 12,000 ft. gallons per year.

“We’re going to explore everything that’s feasible and fundable,” Shelton said. “These plans will look 50 years into the future…by the time we build it and finance it, it’ll probably be 10 years.”
