The Comanche County Veterans Council invites the public to attend the annual Memorial Day ceremony at Fort Sill National Cemetery on Monday, May 28, at 10 am.
Participating in the ceremony this year are members of the U.S. Army, Air Force, U.S Navy and the local Association of Vietnam Veterans Post #751. This year’s guest speaker will be Mayor Larry Thoma, Mayor of Elgin, Okla.
Fort Sill National Cemetery serves approximately 166,000 veterans in southwestern Oklahoma.
Directions: From Oklahoma City 1-44, take the HE Bailey Turnpike to Elgin (Exit 53). Then go west on Highway 277 for approximately 2.6 miles. Turn south on Jake Dunn road and go approximately 1.1 miles. The cemetery is on the left.
From Lawton, take exit 46 to Elgin and follow the road-it curves under I-44. Keep straight, cross the railroad tracks and pass Dolese’s Rock/Stone Quarry. Turn right on the first road, Glover Road. Go about 2 miles and at the “T” intersection, turn right. Cemetery is on the left.
