Grady County burn ban to remain in effect despite rain

GRADY COUNTY — While the burn ban has expired for Grady County, Governor Mary Fallin's statewide burn ban is still in effect, Dale Thompson, Grady County Emergency Management Director said. He added that the recent rainfall has not been significant enough to affect the drought.

The safe room project is still underway. A disaster number was assigned to Grady County and the environmental part of the process has been finished. Thompson said this is a positive step towards the project because the environmental and historical segments of the process can potentially be major issues. Thompson said that he hopes the safe rooms can begin to be built by Spring.

Some electrical fires were reported as well as a few medical calls, but otherwise it has been a quiet week, Thompson said.

In other business:

•    The bond for the Grady County Fire Department Treasurer was renewed.

•    The sale of county owned property to Tyler Granger on Lots 6, 7, and 8-Block 3, Hardens Addition (713 N. 11th St. Chickasha, Okla.) was approved.

•    No action was taken on the application or five year strategic plan for the 2013 ASCOG Reap Grant for District 1 RWD 2  or plat of Section 11-T8N-R5W.

•    A motion to declare surplus equipment for District 2 for the following equipment: 301-0009-1982 Ford Pickup Truck Serial 1FDJF37G2CNA69573 and 301-0051-2001 Ford Supercab Serial 1FTRX1X811NB26444 was approved.

•    The removal of Emily Pritchard and appointed Brook Bradbury as a receiver officer for the OSU Extension Office was approved.

•    The application for permit from Enogex Gas Gathering, LLC,  permit to cross with a natural gas pipeline, a county road or highway between the following Sections 18, 19, and 20-T4N-R5W was accepted.

•    The donation of sick leave for a District 3 employee was approved.
