In an open letter to the people of Chickasha on Monday, Chris Ferguson resigned his Ward 2 seat on the city council. The resignation was effective following Monday’s council meeting.
Ferguson has served on the council since Oct. 18, 2010, when Mayor Hank Ross appointed him to fill the unexpired term of Joseph Gonzalez.
Although he is moving from the ward, Ferguson told the council that he will “continue to be a cheerleader for Chickasha.”
“No doubt you’ll be back to serve the citizens of Chickasha again,” Ross said.
Following is the text of Ferguson’s letter:
“It is with a bitter sweet heart that I write this letter to the citizens of Chickasha. My immediate family circle is expanding and my
wife and I must make room for our growing family. Because of our geographical relocation, I will no longer be able to serve in my
current Ward 2 Council position.
“I have informed the Mayor and the City Council of my decision and I have advised them to keep my seat warm as I intend to further my work with the Council at a later date.
“Thank you to the citizens of Chickasha for the trust and encouragement that you have provided me during my recent council term. Thank you to the Mayor, City Council, City Manager, and staff for all of the hard work that you all have endured while helping move Chickasha in a more positive direction.”
