Casino job fair coming to fair grounds

POCASSET — The Saltcreek Casino in Pocasset is still making progress despite recent rain delays. In hopes of opening its doors in November, the casino is hosting a job fair in order to attract over 100 workers.

On Oct. 3, 4, 9 and 10, the casino will be conducting onsite interviews with departmental managers from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Grady County Fairgrounds. Applicants must be 18 and over, and are encouraged to bring a valid photo I.D.

The casino continues the Chickasaw Nation's ongoing economic development efforts, according to Bill Anoatubby, Chickasaw Nation Governor.

Bill Lance, CEO of the Chickasaw Nation Division of Commerce said while there is a great deal of work remaining, construction crews are still conquering major milestones.

"Crews have worked tirelessly to get to this point, and people in the region have taken notice of the significant headway that has been made," Lance said. "We are raising walls and building the new road, major accomplishments which signal the final phase of construction. As we complete these milestones local residents are becoming more excited to see the project nearing completion."

Anoatubby believes the casino will add major tourism to Grady County.

"The investments we make today in enhancing the tourism amenities within Grady County and throughout the region have the potential for positive economic impact, such as job growth and increased revenues to local lodging and dining establishments, now and for many years to come. We expect this facility to create approximately 150 new jobs," Anoatubby said.
