Foul play possibility investigated in man's Tuesday night death

CHICKASHA — A man that burned to death last night while trying to dispose of brush near Norge could be victim of foul play according to Grady County Sheriff Art Kell.

"It looked suspicious," Kell said. "A lot of things just didn't come together."

Kell said the fire department and the sheriff's office responded to the incident.

The man, identified as Gene Sampson, had a gash on his head when he was found according to Kell.

"That's what really caused the suspicion," Kell said. "He could have just hit his head while working, but we want to make sure."

Kell said his family spoke volumes on Sampson's character.

"From what I understand he was a good Christian man and he will be missed in the community," Kell said.

An investigation is currently underway by the Grady County Sheriff's Department.
