Ashley Wheeler, a 16-year-old junior from Navajo High School, will perform at the Grady County Fair.
The singer and dancer will perform from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday in the Chicken Express Entertainment tent.
Wheeler has been singing and performing since age 7. She's won several contest including the KKNG Colgate Country Showdown in 2007, the Honeyfest Idol Teen in Burleson, Texas, the Carnegie Hall Amateur Talent Show, KFDX TV3’s Most Talented Kid, and the Johnnie High Country Music Review Audition (for the televised show).
Wheeler performs with several Branson groups such as The Plummer Family, Carl Acuff Jr., Mike McAdoo, and Johnny Rogers (aka: Buddy Holly).
She has recorded two CDs – Old Country-Young Heart and Oklahoma Girl, which includes an original song that she co-wrote Oklahoma Home Sweet Home (The Centennial Song). A straight A student and a member of the National High School Honor Society, Wheeler is on the high school varsity basketball and softball teams as well as the cheer squad. She also plays guitar, loves to clog and attends First Baptist Church.
Wheeler is the current Miss Altus Outstanding Teen (winning interview, active wear, photogenic, and talent awards) and was a top 10 finalist at the Miss Oklahoma Outstanding Teen Pageant.
