A wet October coupled with a warmer than usual November has left Chickasha blooming in fall color.
None are possibly as beautiful as multi-colored impatiens planted at Steve Laforge’s home on S. 4th Street.
LaForge first planted a few impatiens in 2006. After seeing how pretty they were and how long they lasted, he opted to put them all the way across the front flower bed the following year.
“The first two years I alternated red and white,” the local developer said. Laforge said Ron Chapman, assisted by William Clift, prepare the ground every year and plant the impatiens. This year they planted 37 flats (600 plants). The impatiens were from Always in Bloom at Sixth and Grand here in Chickasha. LaForge said after they are planted, they require little, if any, maintenance other than afternoon shade and watering.
He said at least once a week someone driving by stops to ask something about the flowers.
“I am always happy to share what I know and wish them luck if they try it themselves,” LaForge said.
What’s planned for the future.
“I may try orange and white next year,” LaForge said.
