Qualified individuals interested in running as a candidate for the fifth seat on the Chickasha Board of Education may file for this seat at the Grady Count Election Board between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Dec. 7 through Dec. 9. This position serves a five-year term in office.
The election will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 9. If no candidate for the board member position receives more than half of the vote,
There will be a run-off election April 6.
To meet eligibility requirements for candidacy, a person must have resided in the election district for no fewer than six months as of Dec. 7 and must be a registered voter within the geographical boundaries of the election district. The person must also have a high school diploma or certificate of high school equivalency and may not be currently employed by the school district or have a relative within the second degree currently employed by the school district.
Candidates must agree that upon being elected, within 15 months of election, they will complete at least 12 hours of instruction on education issues, including school finance, Oklahoma education laws, ethics, duties and responsibilities of district board of education members. Any registered voter within the district’s boundaries can vote.
