Jonior Leadership Class of 2010

Twenty-five Chickasha Middle School students were inducted Dec. 2 into the Junior Leadership Chickasha Class of 2010. The class is sponsored by the Chickasha Chamber of Commerce.

A Kick-Off Reception was held for all of the candidates and their parents. Dan Turner, principal of CMS, welcomed the guests. Dwight Yokum explained the program to the guests and offered the students a challenge to become the best leaders they can be and return to the Chickasha community to work and become the future leaders of the town.

The CMS Honor’s Choir, directed by Crystal Wyatt, presented four Christmas songs for the program. Sharon Wilson, Counselor of CMS recognized each candidate by reading an excerpt from each of their recommendations.

Eighth grade students receiving certificates included Ethan Bailey, Tre’sjon Davis, Brandon Farley, Jennifer Gallegos, Bryant Goodfellow, Lauren Gushing, Emily Hancock, Unique Hightower, Triston Hill, Katie Hinch, Alexa Hoffman, Tessa Holt, Jacob Hood, Damon Johnson, Alex Kennedy, Kaydee King, Lauren McGeough, Braden Mills, Cade Morris, Brittanie Nieto, Taylor Parham, Jeremy Reed, Andrew Ross, Cheritty Tedder, and Rory Troub.

All of those students met certain criteria and were nominated by school staff and members of the community.

They will spend the next five months touring governmental entities, local businesses, Canadian Valley Career Tech and USAO. In addition, they will participate in the lower ropes course at the Career Tech Center.

The students will be work on a class volunteer project with the Grady County Historical Society. They will also be visit board meetings of various organizations throughout the community.
