VIDEO: Swap meet draws antique gems

The 44th Annual Fall Meet is underway at the Grady County fairgrounds bringing in many travelers from afar.

"Junk" topped the shopping list of most patrons though some said they have been coming so long that they were afraid to break tradition.

Vendor Richard Jenson of Lawton whose specialty is old Model A, Model T and Crosleys said, "I've been coming here since the very first meet 44 years ago. I come to all three each year. I like to sell parts and find parts I need-more of a hobby I guess. I'm 80-years- old and if I'm still kicking, I'll be back next year too."

Robert Birch said, “We come every year for the swap meet, and have for the past 15 years or so. Mainly for old junk for my 72 Corvette and my 69 Camaro."

Robert's wife Cindy said she didn't attend the event for the cars.

"I'm just along for the ride to make sure he doesn't spend too much money," she said.

Bob and June Warner of Nebraska admired the show cars near the front entrance. Bob said, "We come down twice a year for these meets-wouldn't miss it."

Vendors are often found browsing through other's junk as well like Dave Scheiter of Hannibal, MO.

Scheiter said, "I'm here for odd car parts, junk for the most part. Here I am trying to clean out my garage and I am carrying around more stuff to buy. I never knew there was anything wrong with that until that show Hoarders came on TV. But that is probably what the majority of people here are. We just like our old junk."

Scheiter is restoring a classic 1960 Imperial.

The swap meet continues through Saturday.
