After receiving an anonymous tip, the Coffeyville Police Department in Kansas arrested 29-year-old Keith Lee Thornburg on a Grady County outstanding warrant.
Grady County Sheriff Art Kell received a phone call Wednesday afternoon that ended the search for Thornburg.
"Chickasha police got a tip," Kell said. "The tip was he was up in Coffeyville, Kan., so they called the Coffeyville Police Department and told them that they got a tip he's up there and they had a phone number. Then I got a call saying they had captured him up there."
According to Kell, police forces in Coffeyville and Chickasha worked together to arrest Thornburg at a trailer park where he was staying.
"The lieutenant up there walked in and saw Thornburg and they arrested him at that point," Kell said. "Today we've got a deputy heading that way to bring him back."
According to Kell, Thornburg will be extradited out of Kansas.
The Chickasha Police Department is waiting on the judge to sign the necessary paperwork and Thornburg will face multiple charges in Grady County.
"Once Thornburg gets brought back here he'll go up in front of the judge," Kell said.
The Grady County Sheriff's Department and local crime-stoppers came together this week to offer a $500 reward for information that could lead to Thornburg's arrest.
According to Kell, Thornburg has a violent history.
"The main one is, he took a knife and threatened a guy to kill him," Kell said. "He beat the guy and assaulted him. He's been in trouble in the past for some time. A lot of people have feared him."
In the past Thornburg has also been charged with obstructing an officer on different occasions, eluding police, possession of a controlled substance and more than one count of assault. He is also wanted for questioning in other felonies that include assault, burglary and rape.
Major Elip Moore of the Chickasha Police Department released a statement expressing excitement over Thornburg's arrest.
"It was vitally important to law enforcement and for the safety of the community that he be caught and brought to justice," Moore said. "We were extremely excited that we received viable information and that allowed us to reach across state lines and grab this guy up, bring him back and make him stand and face the charges against him."
With such a violent past, Kell hopes this will be the end of the fear Thornburg has caused among Chickasha residents.
"I'm glad we've got him and hopefully he'll stay in a long time," Kell said.
