Bonnie Moore
Funeral service for Bonnie Moore, 87, former Chickasha resident, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 15, 2013 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home.
Bonnie Moore was born on July 7, 1925, to Sallie and H.H. Litton on a farm west of Chickasha as the next to youngest child in a family of nine. She died Tuesday, June 11, 2013 in Decatur, GA. She attended Southwest Elementary and what were then called Chickasha Jr. and Sr. High. In 1945, she met Ernest Moore who owned the TV and radio shop at 515 Chickasha Ave. After their first date she knew she was going to marry him. She liked to joke that it took her a bit longer – but not much – to convince him of that. They remained happily married until he preceded her in death in 1988. They had one daughter, Susan Litton (also known as Suzie Moore) and one son, Mark Wayne Moore, who died shortly after birth.
In addition to being totally devoted to family and friends, Bonnie also loved the various jobs she held over the years. She tells stories of working as an operator at the telephone company in the 40’s before air-conditioning when they had scheduled ‘fan breaks’ where they could go stand in front of large fans to cool off a bit. After she married, she helped Ernest in his store for many years. When their daughter reached high school, Bonnie decided to return to the work force to look for a ‘real job’. She started as a receptionist at Chickasha Mobile Homes, then became a purchasing secretary for Grady Memorial Hospital and finally was asked to be the first purchasing agent for Southern Plains Medical Center (known then as “the clinic”). Bonnie loved all of her jobs but she adored working at Southern Plains. She took great pride in her work and always did her best at everything she tackled.
Bonnie also loved gardening. Her yard once won a “Beautification Award” for being one of the nicest yards in Chickasha. She also loved sewing and crafts. Many people looked forward to special occasions or holidays, knowing that Bonnie just MIGHT create something special and unique “just for them”.
Bonnie loved her family and friends and loved to laugh. She also loved – as she called them – “kitty cats”. On days when you find yourself missing Bonnie, pay it forward by doing a kindness for someone else, sharing funny stories, or petting a kitty cat. More than likely, Bonnie will be right there beside you, enjoying the love and good times.
Survivors include daughter Susan Litton and “adopted daughter” Anne Danner, both of Atlanta, GA. Bonnie also leaves two brothers, Segal Litton and Buster Litton and sisters-in-law, Lupe Litton and Wilma Heath, all of California. Additional survivors are cherished cousins, nieces and nephews, and many of the very best friends a person could ever ask for.
Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
