Funeral service for Margaret Elizabeth Jennings, age 88, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 29, 2012, at the First Baptist Church in Tipton. Dr. Bryan Haynes will officiate and Rev. Paul Beam will assist.

Margaret Elizabeth Jennings was born the daughter of Homer Alonzo Vernon and Mary "Velma" Conrad Vernon on Nov. 21, 1923 in Tipton,. She died on June 25, 2012 in Chickasha.

Margaret was born and raised in Tipton where she married her high school sweetheart, Junior Jennings. She assisted her husband on the family farm and was an active member of the Tipton First Baptist Church. Margaret was an excellent cook. She was an accomplished seamstress as well and loved making clothes for her children and grandchildren. Margaret also received her pilots license and enjoyed flying with her husband. She loved Oklahoma State University where she sent her four children. Sixteen of her family, including grandchildren and spouses, attended Oklahoma State University.

She was preceded in death by her husband Junior Jennings, infant son David Russell Jennings, parents Homer and Velma Vernon, brothers and sisters Dortha Hollan, Harry Vernon, Edith Silk, Robert Vernon and Emma Jean Woods.

Survivors include daughter and husband: Margaret Ann and Joe Berry of Stillwater, on and wife: Richard and Issy Jennings of Houston, TX; daughter and husband: Janice and Carl Phelps of Chickasha; aughter and husband: Patti and Steve Hesser of Springfield, MO; grandchildren: Jeff Berry of Edmond, Janet Vaughan of Edmond, Jonathan Berry of Colorado Springs, CO, Sarah Speir of San Antonio, TX, Jennifer Driskill of Broken Arrow, Cara Gerdes of Chickasha, Tyler Hesser of Springfield, MO, and Amy Jennings of Houston, TX; and 13 Great Grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Junior and Margaret Jennings Endowed Scholarship Fund, Oklahoma State University, PO Box 1749, Stillwater, OK 74076-1749 or Tipton First Baptist Church.

Viewing will be at McRay Funeral Home on Wednesday and Thursday. Viewing on Friday will be from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Tipton. Interment will be in the Tipton Cemetery. Services are under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.

  • Patsy McDonald Rhymes

    Patsy McDonald Rhymes, 62, of Chickasha, beloved wife of Danny Rhymes, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 14, 2013.  She will be greatly missed by a large and loving extended family and many friends.  Patsy was a devoted wife and mother and spent most of her time caring for her family. 
    She is survived by her husband Danny, her son Starling and his wife Connie, and grandchildren Rochelle and Michael.  Patsy was especially close to her niece Pam and also leaves behind her brothers Charles, Paige, and Roland along with her sisters Thelma and Jeana. 
    Graveside services were held in Hominy,  on Friday, May 17, 2013, at 2 p.m. and will be officiated by her longtime family minister, Rev. Leonard Lindsay.  Arrangements are being handled by Poteet Funeral Home, Pawnee, Oklahoma.

    Private graveside services were held for Noyka Hadley, 67, of Chickasha, on Wednesday May 15, 2013 in the Fairlawn Cemetery.
    Noyka was born on February 10, 1946, in Houston, Texas. She died May 11, 2013, in Chickasha.
    Services were under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.

  • Lois Morris

    Funeral service for Lois Morris, 89, of Chickasha, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 18, 2013, at the Maranatha Baptist Church in Chickasha.  Lois was born June 13, 1923, the daughter of Elva L. and Eva Opal (Heavin) Keeton.  She died May 13, 2013, in Muskogee.

    Graveside services for Betty Jo James, 84.will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013 in the Westview Cemetery in Rush Springs under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Chapel in Rush Springs. Visitation will be held Monday and Tuesday at the Martin Funeral Home in Elk City and Wednesday and Thursday at Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Chapel in Rush Springs.
    Betty was born in Cox City,  on Thursday, Sept. 27, 1928 and passed from this life on Saturday, May 11, 2013 in Elk City.

  • Freida Perkins

    Funeral services for Freida Perkins, 95, of Chickasha,  will be 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2013 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home.
    Freida Perkins was born March 19, 1918, at Kalamazoo, Michigan.  She passed away at her home on Saturday, May 11, 2013.
    Mrs. Perkins married Daniel Perkins on November 14, 1940.  She and Daniel lived in New Mexico from 1940 to 1980, when they moved to the Amber area.
    She had worked in the New Mexico public school system and after moving to Amber she worked at the Amber Café for seven years.
    She is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Perkins in 1986 and a son, Danny Perkins in 2010.
    Mrs. Perkins is survived by a sister, Esther Healey, of PawPaw, Michigan; four grandchildren:  Penny Fuller, George Perkins, Wayne Perkins and T.J. Perkins; 11 great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren; Daughter-in-law:  Wynema Perkins. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews including Carla and Eddie.
    Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Chickasha, OK under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
