Funeral services for Georgiann “Jan” Davis Owen, 66, of Chickasha, will be at 1 p.m.. Friday, Aug. 20, 2010, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel.
Georgiann “Jan” Davis Owen was born July 15, 1944, in Antioch, Okla., the daughter of George Davis and Joan Helen Glaser Davis.
She died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010, in Chickasha.
Jan grew up in Maysville, Oklahoma and graduated form Maysville High School. Jan married Russell C. Owen on June 1, 1963, in Pauls Valley, Okla., and moved to the Chickasha area, where they have made their home since.
Jan was employed by Pool Mortgage Company until she and Russell were blessed with their daughter Cynthia. After being a full time mother for several years, Jan returned to work outside the home in 1978, as the school secretary at Pioneer School.
She enjoyed working with children at the school and remained there until her retirement in 1993.
Jan had a passion for travel. She was especially fond of memories of a trip to Europe and a very special family vacation to Jamaica with Russell and Cynthia and the Harris family.
She also enjoyed bird watching around her home. Jan was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed caring for her family and their home.
She was preceded in death by both her parents.
Jan is survived by her loving husband, Russell, of the home; her daughter, Cynthia and her boyfriend, Kris Beaver, of Oklahoma City; three sisters and brother-in-law, Linda and Ronnie Harris, of Pauls Valley, Okla., Dorothy Jones, of Whitesboro, Texas, Sharon Judd, of Meeker, Oklahoma; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Terry and Beverly Davis, of Maysville, Okla., Larry and Joyce Davis, of Wayne, Okla.; sister-in-law, Clara Idleman, of Lone Grove, Okla.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harris and Jan Owen, of Pauls Valley, Okla., sister-in-law, Frankie Nielsen, of Wiesbaden, Germany; aunt and uncle, Norma and Harold Luis, of Shawnee, Okla., aunt, Beverly Allen, of Chickasha, Okla., uncle, Jimmy Paul and Freda Davis, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and a host of friends.
Interment will be in the Antioch Cemetery in Antioch, Oklahoma, under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
