CHICKASHA — WILLIAM PRESTON (BILL) FRIEDLANDER
William Preston (Bill) Friedlander, 86, passed away on March 10, 2007, in Olathe, KS. Bill was born on July 13, 1920, in Chickasha, OK, to William M. and May Friedlander.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Alta Fern, and by his parents and all his brothers and sisters.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Gayle and Kyle Keahey of Littleton, CO, and Julie and Kenneth Kyle of Olathe, KS. Bill has seven beloved grandchildren: Ryan, Kevin, and Beth Keahey, and Lauren, Kelsey, Brady, and Riley Kyle.
Bill graduated from Chickasha High School in 1939, then joined the U.S. Army serving as PFC, Battery B, 189th Field Artillery for 2 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Merchant Marine, serving as an officer in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Mediterranean Middle East War Zones during World War II and in the Korean War Zone. In 1953 he graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Science in Education.
Bill and Fern married on December 17, 1955, and lived in Oklahoma City for almost 50 years.
He spent most of his career as a sales representative for Chesebrough-Ponds and Alberto-Culver. After retirement, he worked for Homeland grocery for 16 years, where he was lovingly known as “Mister Bill” to many customers. Bill was a devoted and proud husband and father, a life-long traveler, enthusiastic Sooner fan, and a caring son, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend. He will be fondly remembered for his love of life, patriotism, and gentlemanly ways.
Visitation and service at Vondel Smith North Colonial Chapel. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 15. Burial will follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery, 7801 N.W. Expressway, OKC.
ARZZIE LEE BURDEX
Arzzie Lee Burdex was born on April 12, 1922 in Carthage, Texas to Willie Mae Palmer and John Howell Sunthomas, she was the second born of two children. She died on March 7, 2007.
Arzzie met and married Willie Harrison Burdex in 1942. To this union there were three children born. William Tyrone Burdex, Aaron Bernard Burdex Sr. and Steve Edgar Burdex Sr.
Arzzie was a member of The Church of the Living God, P.G. of T. She was active in the General Mission and worked in other areas of the church.
Arzzie worked many jobs; N.Y.A. Government Program, The Egg Plant, the Concentration Camp, The Dixie Store, Luigi’s Restaurant, Chickasha Cotton and Oil and she retired from Pet Milk Incorporated.
Arzzie was preceded in death by both her parents Willie M. Palmer and John Howell Sunthomas, her husband Willie (Bill) Burdex, two sons (Infant Son) William T. Burdex and Steve E. Burdex and her brother John E. Morgan.

ORVAL CARRELL SMITH
Graveside service for Orval Carrell Smith, age 71, of Verden, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 16, 2007, in the Murray Cemetery in Binger, Oklahoma. Viewing will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2007 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the McRay Funeral Home.
Orval was born on April 14, 1935. He died on March 13, 2007.
Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home..
