ELSIE REECE
Funeral service for Elsie Reece of Anadarko will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 27, 2007, in the Bethel Baptist Church in Anadarko, OK with Reverend Ray Weathers officiating.
She passed away in Norman, OK, August 22, 2007, just four days before her 93rd birthday.
Elsie Reece was born August 26, 1914 to John (Doc) Fatheree and Rosetta Price Fatheree in Ringling, OK. She grew up near Lawton and Medicine Park, OK, attended Mt. Scott School and the old School House Slue, which is still there today near Lake Latonka.
She and William J. (Bill) Reece were married April 30, 1932 in Lawton, OK. They lived in Comanche and Cotton counties, and moved to Caddo County in 1939. They farmed and ranched in the Ft. Cobb and Gracemont areas. They moved to Anadarko in 1945 and later in 1946 made their final move to the home she lived in for 60 years.
She and husband Bill owned and operated the Anadarko Steam Laundry retiring in 1979. After retiring from the laundry business, she worked at Wag-a-Bag for a number of years. She joined the grandparents program through the Anadarko School System and worked as a volunteer for East Grade Elementary School until the age of 90, and received many honors and certificates of recognition. Students there lovingly referred to her as “Miss Elsie�. She was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church in Anadarko and loved her Sunday school class, Naomi.
Some of her hobbies included sewing, other types of needlework, ceramics, gardening, and as time permitted horseback riding.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, stepson, Willie Lacey Reece and son, Carl Wayne Reece; daughter, Shirley Manthei; son-in-law, Marshall Settle, daughter-in-law, Faye Reece, three brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by one sister, Velva Hilliary of Sparks, NV; five children, Frances Settle, Chickasha, OK; Gwen Moser and husband, Gene of Norman, OK; Tommy Reece and wife Myra of Lubbock, TX; Joyce Reece of Anadarko, OK; Jimmy Reece and wife Paula, Lawton, OK; daughter-in-law Dovie Reece of Broken Bow, OK; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
The family will gather at Steverson Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, August 26, 2007, to greet family and friends.
Interment will be in Memory Lane Cemetery, Anadarko, OK under the direction of Steverson Funeral Home.
ORVILLE EDWARD “ED” WILLIAMS
Memorial services for Orville Edward Williams, 81, of Chickasha, will be held Monday, August 27,2007, at Epworth United Methodist Church of Chickasha at 4th & Iowa, at 2 p.m.
This will be preceded by a lite lunch for those friends who would like to enjoy a time of fellowship with the family, this will be in the Life Center at the church beginning at 12:30.
Ed Williams was born September 5,1925 in Wichita, KS, and died at his home on August 22, 2007.
Ed married his childhood sweetheart Doris Palmer on March 14,1944.
Ed graduated from Wichita North High School then served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. He then attended and graduated from Bethany Peniel College. Ed then spent the next 18 years of his life ministering at several Nazarine churches throughout the country. He then went on to serve as Administrator at Methodist Hospital in Houston,TX. He then served as pastor at several Methodist churches before going on to be field director for the United Methodist Foundation, Oklahoma Conference. A position which he enjoyed until retiring in 1994 when he and Doris settled in Chickasha.
He was preceded in death by, his mother Ellen Eliza Ewing Williams, father Homer Ray Williams, brother Sterling Wesley Williams, and nephew Daniel Williams.
Survivors include, his wife of 63 years Doris Palmer Williams; one brother Homer Ray Williams Jr. of Cordell, OK.; son Douglas Gene Williams and wife Kathy of Norman; son Michael Edward Williams; and wife Terri of Norman; son Donald Ray Williams of Chickasha; daughter Janet Lynn Williams-Loomis and husband Kevin of Chickasha.
There are thirteen grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed and his legacy will live on for many generations.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Methodist Womens Organization of Epworth United Methodist Church of Chickasha.
