Nicholas William Byford, 76, of Arcadia passed away at the V.A. Medical Center in Oklahoma City on Monday, Aug.27, 2012. He was born on June 26, 1936 in Verdan,  to Howard William and Sally Agnes (McWharter) Byford.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Memory Gardens Memorial Park with Reverend Robert Foos and Reverend Bertha Potts officiating with burial following at Memory Gardens Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of Community Funeral Home.

Nicholas married Janice Mae Berline on Dec.21, 1958 in Caldwell, Kan. Nicholas was a Sergeant in the United States Army and afterwards attended Oklahoma State University where he graduated with an Engineering degree. He worked in the oil field and as a result Nicholas and Janice and their four sons lived in Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas and Colorado.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Edmond. Nicholas also loved to barbeque and eat. His favorite past time was spending time with his grandchildren.

Nicholas is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jim Byford. He is survived by his wife, Janice, of the home as well as his four sons: Douglas Byford, Bill Byford (Christi), John Byford (Cheryl) and Steve Byford (Lisa) and 12 grandchildren.

He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.

Viewing for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 9:30 a.m. - 8 p.m. and the morning of the service until 12:30 p.m. Condolences may be emailed to the family at Communityfh@peoplepc.com.

  • Patsy McDonald Rhymes

    Patsy McDonald Rhymes, 62, of Chickasha, beloved wife of Danny Rhymes, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 14, 2013.  She will be greatly missed by a large and loving extended family and many friends.  Patsy was a devoted wife and mother and spent most of her time caring for her family. 
    She is survived by her husband Danny, her son Starling and his wife Connie, and grandchildren Rochelle and Michael.  Patsy was especially close to her niece Pam and also leaves behind her brothers Charles, Paige, and Roland along with her sisters Thelma and Jeana. 
    Graveside services were held in Hominy,  on Friday, May 17, 2013, at 2 p.m. and will be officiated by her longtime family minister, Rev. Leonard Lindsay.  Arrangements are being handled by Poteet Funeral Home, Pawnee, Oklahoma.

    Private graveside services were held for Noyka Hadley, 67, of Chickasha, on Wednesday May 15, 2013 in the Fairlawn Cemetery.
    Noyka was born on February 10, 1946, in Houston, Texas. She died May 11, 2013, in Chickasha.
    Services were under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.

  • Lois Morris

    Funeral service for Lois Morris, 89, of Chickasha, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 18, 2013, at the Maranatha Baptist Church in Chickasha.  Lois was born June 13, 1923, the daughter of Elva L. and Eva Opal (Heavin) Keeton.  She died May 13, 2013, in Muskogee.

    Graveside services for Betty Jo James, 84.will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013 in the Westview Cemetery in Rush Springs under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Chapel in Rush Springs. Visitation will be held Monday and Tuesday at the Martin Funeral Home in Elk City and Wednesday and Thursday at Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Chapel in Rush Springs.
    Betty was born in Cox City,  on Thursday, Sept. 27, 1928 and passed from this life on Saturday, May 11, 2013 in Elk City.

  • Freida Perkins

    Funeral services for Freida Perkins, 95, of Chickasha,  will be 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2013 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home.
    Freida Perkins was born March 19, 1918, at Kalamazoo, Michigan.  She passed away at her home on Saturday, May 11, 2013.
    Mrs. Perkins married Daniel Perkins on November 14, 1940.  She and Daniel lived in New Mexico from 1940 to 1980, when they moved to the Amber area.
    She had worked in the New Mexico public school system and after moving to Amber she worked at the Amber Café for seven years.
    She is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Perkins in 1986 and a son, Danny Perkins in 2010.
    Mrs. Perkins is survived by a sister, Esther Healey, of PawPaw, Michigan; four grandchildren:  Penny Fuller, George Perkins, Wayne Perkins and T.J. Perkins; 11 great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren; Daughter-in-law:  Wynema Perkins. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews including Carla and Eddie.
    Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Chickasha, OK under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
