Fairy Lee Hawkins-Gentry

— Funeral services for Fairy Lee Hawkins-Gentry, 72, of Chickasha, OK will be held Saturday November 17, 2012 @ 11:00 A.M. at Church of the Living God (P.G.ofT.) Chickasha, OK.  Overseer D. Allen will officiate and eulogize the services.  He will be assisted by Minister K. Aikens, Pastor R. Colbert, Elder Clarence Seals, and Pastor T. McKenzie

Obituary

Fairy Lee Hawkins-Gentry was born in Tipton, OK to Wade Hawkins and Louiza Sweets on July 31, 1940.  Due to the passing of her mother, while yet a toddler, Fairy, at an early age move to Chickasha.  In Chickasha, she was raised by her Grandfather, Mr. Robert Brown; Grandmother, Victoria Lewis and her Aunt Dorothy; along with help from her step-mother, Lillian Hawkins.

Fairy attended Lincoln Schools in Chickasha. She had various jobs around the area: Maremont, Robbies Pit B-B-Q, Davis Café, Wallmart, and Bartending. Fairy united with the Church of the Living God (P.G.ofT.) in 1980 under the leadership of Overseer Leo M. Johnson. She served faithfully in God's House.  In Church, Fairy was a member of the Darcus Mission, Kitchen Committee, Youth Vacation Bible School, and Choir Department; as well as wherever else the Church needed her.

In 1957, Fairy Lee Hawkins united in holy matrimony to Franklin Pennington. To this union 4 children were born: Clay, Jerita, Linda, and Keith.  In 1963, She  

married Robert Doss, to this union 2 children were born: Robert and Nikki.  Fairy, later in life, married Jack Gentry.  No children were born to their union.

Fairy was preceded in death by both parents and grandparents; one granddaughter, Tandra Dawn Johnson; sister, Joyce Hawkins; step daughter, Frankie Mae Pennington; great-grandaughters, Jamelia and Arielle; one brother, Ural Littles; nephew, Tollie Melvin; Step-Grandmother, Mertle Littles.  

Those left to cherish her memories: aunt, Dorothy Melvin of Chickasha; Six Children: Clay Doss of Lexington; Keith (Jan) Doss of Chickasha; Jerita Pennington of Oklahoma City; Linda Horton of Chickasha; Robert (Stephanie) Doss, Jr. of Hobart, OK; Nikki Doss of Oklahoma City.  Six sisters:  Evelyn Hawkins, Mary Hawkins, JoAnn Hawkins, Elizabeth Hawkins, Shirley Hawkins, and Lorena Roberts; Step-sister, Shirley Littles;  Stepmother, Lillian Hawkins.

Four stepchildren: Margie, Howard, Wannette, and Tony. A special cousin; Porsche Riley and Adopted daughters:  Stacy Howard, Gina Daughtery, Sandra Sampson, and Briana Foster Brown; very special friends: Mollie Roberts, Brenda Williams, Willie Mae Parks, and Wanda J. Jones.

Fairy's memories will be cherished by her Church Family, Lincoln Alumni Assc. And classmates, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Obituaries
  • Theodore "Ted" A. Diaconoff

    Ted Diaconoff, age 84 of Chickasha, was born the son of Andre Diaconoff and Evelyn Hotson Diaconoff on Oct. 7, 1928, in Akron, Ohio. He died on May 19, 2013 in Chickasha.
    After receiving his masters degree, Ted continued his education and received his Phd at UCLA. He also attended the Juilliard School of Music in New York City where he studied piano and composition and was a faculty assistant. He later held teaching positions at universities in Michigan, Kentucky, then at USAO in Chickasha where he was a professor of music.
    He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Betty.
    Survivors include his brothers, Phillip Diaconoff of Livermore, Calif. and Peter Diaconoff of Santa Fe, NM.
    Arrangements for cremation are with the McRay Funeral Home. There will be no services.

  • Patsy McDonald Rhymes

    Patsy McDonald Rhymes, 62, of Chickasha, beloved wife of Danny Rhymes, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 14, 2013.  She will be greatly missed by a large and loving extended family and many friends.  Patsy was a devoted wife and mother and spent most of her time caring for her family. 
    She is survived by her husband Danny, her son Starling and his wife Connie, and grandchildren Rochelle and Michael.  Patsy was especially close to her niece Pam and also leaves behind her brothers Charles, Paige, and Roland along with her sisters Thelma and Jeana. 
    Graveside services were held in Hominy,  on Friday, May 17, 2013, at 2 p.m. and will be officiated by her longtime family minister, Rev. Leonard Lindsay.  Arrangements are being handled by Poteet Funeral Home, Pawnee, Oklahoma.

    Private graveside services were held for Noyka Hadley, 67, of Chickasha, on Wednesday May 15, 2013 in the Fairlawn Cemetery.
    Noyka was born on February 10, 1946, in Houston, Texas. She died May 11, 2013, in Chickasha.
    Services were under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.

    Funeral service for Lois Morris, 89, of Chickasha, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 18, 2013, at the Maranatha Baptist Church in Chickasha.  Lois was born June 13, 1923, the daughter of Elva L. and Eva Opal (Heavin) Keeton.  She died May 13, 2013, in Muskogee.

    Graveside services for Betty Jo James, 84.will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013 in the Westview Cemetery in Rush Springs under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Chapel in Rush Springs. Visitation will be held Monday and Tuesday at the Martin Funeral Home in Elk City and Wednesday and Thursday at Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Chapel in Rush Springs.
    Betty was born in Cox City,  on Thursday, Sept. 27, 1928 and passed from this life on Saturday, May 11, 2013 in Elk City.

  • Freida Perkins

    Funeral services for Freida Perkins, 95, of Chickasha,  will be 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2013 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home.
    Freida Perkins was born March 19, 1918, at Kalamazoo, Michigan.  She passed away at her home on Saturday, May 11, 2013.
    Mrs. Perkins married Daniel Perkins on November 14, 1940.  She and Daniel lived in New Mexico from 1940 to 1980, when they moved to the Amber area.
    She had worked in the New Mexico public school system and after moving to Amber she worked at the Amber Café for seven years.
    She is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Perkins in 1986 and a son, Danny Perkins in 2010.
    Mrs. Perkins is survived by a sister, Esther Healey, of PawPaw, Michigan; four grandchildren:  Penny Fuller, George Perkins, Wayne Perkins and T.J. Perkins; 11 great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren; Daughter-in-law:  Wynema Perkins. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews including Carla and Eddie.
    Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Chickasha, OK under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
