Kenneth Dale Easterling, age 72, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 at an Oklahoma City hospital after a sudden illness. He was born Sept. 10, 1940 at Hobart to Walter M. and Mary Ellen (Witten) Easterling. He grew up in various places in Western Oklahoma and California, but most of his pre-teen and teenage years were spent in OKC. He was a 1960 graduate of Capitol Hill High School and attended OSU Tech. Ken worked many years for the State of Oklahoma, starting with the Vocational Rehabilitation Dept. and later in the State Treasurer’s office working under both Cowboy Pink Williams and Leo Winters. He later owned and operated Ken’s Cleaners in Mustang until retiring in 1994. He was a member of Chisholm Heights Baptist Church. He was a member of Mustang Masonic Lodge for over 40 years, was a 32nd degree Mason and was Past Master twice.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Raymond.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Shirley of the home, two daughters Gail Easterling of Oklahoma City, Cindy McKown and husband Josh of Mustang and one son K. Chris Easterling and wife Claudia of Mustang; six granddaughters: Cassie, Kylie, Bethany, Audrey, Breauna and Presley; two brothers Ronald Easterling and wife Aggie of Mead, Doyle Easterling and wife Kathy of Piedmont and a sister-in-law Patsy Tapp of Bethany.
Services will be held at 2pm on Monday, January 7, 2013 at The Bridge Assembly of God in Mustang, with interment following in the Mustang Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to Clarehouse in Tulsa or The Salvation Army. Arrangements are under the direction of McNeil’s Mustang Funeral Service, Mustang.
