LAVERA BRUNDAGE ROBERTS

— Funeral services for Lavera Brundage Roberts, age 96, of Marshall, will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 14, 2013, at The Little Chapel by the Lake at Colonial Gardens Cemetery on Elysian fields Road with Rev. Rodger Garbs, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating, with interment in “The Garden of Kindness” in Colonial Gardens. Visitation will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 14, 2013, at The Little Chapel by the Lake at Colonial Gardens Cemetery in Marshall.

Mrs. Roberts passed away Monday, March 11, 2013, in Marshall. She was born July 30, 1916, at Union Center Community near Nappanee, Ind., a daughter of M.J. and Arvilla Stiver Brundage. She married A.P. Roberts on April 2, 1939 in Marietta, Okla.

The family moved to Oklahoma in 1918 and settled in Carter County near Wilson, Oklahoma, where Mrs. Roberts attended Rexroat Consolidated School, graduating high school in 1934. She then attended Ardmore Business College in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Mr. and Mrs. Roberts and son, Gary, moved to Scottsville, Texas, in 1950 where she was employed for 22 years as secretary for Verhalen Wholesale Nursery Company at Scottsville. She later was employed by Everett Truck and Tractor and Phoenix Pipeline Company and in 1980, became Secretary at First United Methodist Church, retiring in June 1991.

Survivors include her son, Gary Pearson Roberts, an Engineer for Satcom Technologies, of Marshall. Also surviving Mrs. Roberts are many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, A. P. Roberts; parents, M.J. and Arvilla Brundage; sisters, Eunice Brundage and Opal Brundage Whatley; and brothers, Otis Brundage, Joe Brundage, and Fredis Brundage.

Mrs. Roberts was a member of Unity SS Class at First United Methodist Church, a member of Extra Steps Sr. Program, and the Young at Heart senior organization at First Methodist United Church. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and traveling.

Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church in Marshall.

    Private graveside services were held for Noyka Hadley, 67, of Chickasha, on Wednesday May 15, 2013 in the Fairlawn Cemetery.
    Noyka was born on February 10, 1946, in Houston, Texas. She died May 11, 2013, in Chickasha.
    Services were under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.

    Funeral service for Lois Morris, 89, of Chickasha, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 18, 2013, at the Maranatha Baptist Church in Chickasha.  Lois was born June 13, 1923, the daughter of Elva L. and Eva Opal (Heavin) Keeton.  She died May 13, 2013, in Muskogee.

    Graveside services for Betty Jo James, 84.will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013 in the Westview Cemetery in Rush Springs under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Chapel in Rush Springs. Visitation will be held Monday and Tuesday at the Martin Funeral Home in Elk City and Wednesday and Thursday at Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Chapel in Rush Springs.
    Betty was born in Cox City,  on Thursday, Sept. 27, 1928 and passed from this life on Saturday, May 11, 2013 in Elk City.

  • Freida Perkins

    Funeral services for Freida Perkins, 95, of Chickasha,  will be 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2013 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home.
    Freida Perkins was born March 19, 1918, at Kalamazoo, Michigan.  She passed away at her home on Saturday, May 11, 2013.
    Mrs. Perkins married Daniel Perkins on November 14, 1940.  She and Daniel lived in New Mexico from 1940 to 1980, when they moved to the Amber area.
    She had worked in the New Mexico public school system and after moving to Amber she worked at the Amber Café for seven years.
    She is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Perkins in 1986 and a son, Danny Perkins in 2010.
    Mrs. Perkins is survived by a sister, Esther Healey, of PawPaw, Michigan; four grandchildren:  Penny Fuller, George Perkins, Wayne Perkins and T.J. Perkins; 11 great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren; Daughter-in-law:  Wynema Perkins. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews including Carla and Eddie.
    Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Chickasha, OK under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
